Description
Clemente played for the Pittsburgh Pirates for eighteen years from 1955-1972. During this time he played in two World Series, he won the National League batting championship four times, and was awarded twelve gold gloves. He was also awarded National League MVP in 1966, and was chosen as the MVP in the 1971 World Series. Clemente was not only loved for his skills in baseball but for his concern for his fellow man. He died in an airplane accident in 1972, while bringing food, medical, and clothing supplies to Nicaragua after a serious earthquake.
