Description
A man in a suit watches as a young woman pours a sample of PET brand non-fat dry milk at a promotional booth. PET milk is a product of the Helvetia Milk Condensing Company (1885). PET milk became increasingly popular after 1933 when Erma Proetz began broadcasting her how-to show for the American homemaker called the 'Mary Lee Taylor Program.' In the 1950s the baby boom increased PET sales to its highest point. Signs read 'For Fresh Milk Flavor' and 'Children love its Fresh-Milk Flavor, Nutritious and Thrifty Too!' Style of clothing dates to c. 1950-1960. The booth may have been part of a trade fair, possibly at Oakland's Syria Mosque.
