Description
A portrait of the legendary jazz pianist and composer Thelonious Monk (1917-1982). Monk is famous as the innovator of the jazz style known as BeBop. He is also well known for his playing technique; his hands and fingers were flat and level with the piano. In the early 40s, Thelonious Monk played for Harlem clubs like Minton's and Monroe's Uptown House. He also played with Kenny Clarke, Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker. Ca. 1950-1960.
