Description
Lawrence Peeler became the first African American teacher in the Pittsburgh public school system in 1937, when he was appointed to teach music in a Hill district elementary school. He also ran a music school at his home at 2706 Bedford Avenue in 1938; date of his move to Centre Avenue TBD.
