Description
A six man duckpin bowling team poses with their bowling balls in uniform. Four of their names can be read from the uniform; Chuck, Bob (back row), Jap, and Jim (front row). Jap possibly stands for Jasper I. Washington, who was an umpire for the National Negro League from 1922-1937. Umpires for the NNL were leaders of the black community, their authority in and out of the game put them at risk for physical harm including lynching.
